Last season (Spring/Summer 2012) ethical designer Jeff
Garner took a break from London Fashion Week, but this season he’s back.
Titled ‘Courtly Love’, Garner was inspired by Princess Grace
and her noble gentleman who courted her.
Not sure why the first models had a Scottish theme but it’s
always great to see a man in a kilt.
Here a red tartan kilt and sporran style bag was paired with
waistcoat and red check shirt giving a rugged look.
The next outfit was more
dapper with a plain grey kilt teamed with a dark red jacket, cream waistcoat
and ruffle fronted dress shirt. Last
AW11, Garner had introduced his grandma, Lola’s quilt in to his collection,
this season he adds it as the apron front to the kilt.
Garner’s jodhpur style trousers were present in a washed out
red, dressed up with a pink waist coat and white military style jacket with
blue lapels. But also cutting a striking figure in black and matched with a
monochrome checked short jacket and waistcoat with a Nehru collar ruffle dress
shirt
His civil war striped style trousers were given a more
relaxed look teamed with a baggy beige cardigan and cream blouson shirt.
Main colours of peach, pink, red, cream with black and white, all made from plant and earth-based dyes.
A lover of the Renaissance flare, the last outfits became
more flamboyant with a romantic floral trellis print coat in pale pink;....
... and a
black coat rich in gold brocade worn with peach shirt embellished with pale
blue ruffles – definitely fit for a Princely Court.
